Setting up a dial-up connection for Windows 2000 users

Here are some simple steps to follow designed to help you setup your Kit Carson Internet access connection using a microsoft windows 2000 operating system. If at anytime you feel unsure of something while setting up your dial-up connection feel free to call tech support at 758-4838 between the hours of 8am-6pm and our friendly staff will be happy to assist you.

Internet Connection Wizard

1. From the Start menu, choose Run.

2. In the Open field, type inetwiz. Click ok to continue.

3. This opens the "Welcome to the Network Connection Wizard" page.

4. Select "I want to set up my Internet Connection manually, or I want to connect through a local area Network (LAN)" option and click the "Next" button to continue. .

5. Select "I connect through a phone line and a modem" option and click the "Next" button to continue .

6. Type in the local access number that you were given in the phone number field. For Taos 751-1426, El Rito 581-4441 Uncheck the "Use area code and dialing rules" box and click the "Next" button to continue.

7. Type in your username in the Username box. Type in your password in the Password box and click the "Next" button to continue.

8. Type in Kit Carson Internet as the "Connection name" and click the "Next" button to continue.

9. Select the "Yes" option to setup your internet mail account and click the "Next" button to continue.

10. Select Create a new Internet mail account.click the "Next" button to continue.

11. Type in the name that you want others to see when you send them email in the "Display Name" field and and click the "Next" button to continue.

12. In the E-mail address field, type your full Kit Carson email address ( username@kitcarson.net).Click next to continue.

13. Click the down arrow on the drop-down list and choose POP3.
14. In the Incoming mail (POP3 or IMAP) server field, type your incoming mail server ( pop3.kitcarson.net).
15. In the Outgoing mail (SMTP) server field, type your outgoing mail server (mail.kitcarson.net).
16. Click the Next button.

17. In the Account name: field, type your Kit Carson email address.
18. In the Password: field, type in your password.
19. Check the box next to Remember password.
20. Click the Next button.

21. All done! Put a check in the box next to "To connect to the Internet immediately, select this box and then click Finish" and click the "Finish" button.

If you don't want to connect to the Internet immediately then leave the box unticked and click the "Finish" button.
